Wooden clothesline winder
Wooden clothesline winder
Less than a hundred years ago, there was no other way to dry laundry than to hang it up in living spaces, in the attic, or outside. Nature took care of the rest–without consuming any electricity. A clothesline made of natural fiber and wooden clothespins were standard equipment in many families (except when the wet washing was spread on wooden drying racks or directly on a grassy area, bushes or sand to dry). The clothesline was not necessarily permanently attached, but was taken down after each use. A wooden rope winder facilitated winding up the clothesline after use.
The same method works equally well today. This wooden winder, handcrafted in Finland, is designed by Ekovekotin Ltd and is exclusively produced for us. It serves as a complement to our hemp clothesline and can accommodate at least 40 m of our own clothesline. You can also fit a lot more line on the winder, but then the package just gets thicker. The winder allows the clothesline to be stored neatly when not in use.
The raw material of the clothesline winder is Finnish birch, surplus wood from the lumber industry that would otherwise have ended up as firewood. It’s quality is nonetheless first class. The surface of the winder is sanded smooth, otherwise it is untreated.
The dimensions of the clothesline winder are approx. 38 cm x 14 cm x 1.4 cm.
